Do you want to feel more energized? More in control? More satisfied? Better surrounded? The solution is probably simpler than you think. You can stop burning yourself and increase your power with 3 postures: anticipate, cooperate and innovate.
If you were compensating for a lack of staff by working more hours, taking more pressure, trying to do your best while knowing that you are on a downward slope in terms of energy, ramping up is easier than you think.
The three basic postures of behavioral agility are: anticipate, cooperate and innovate.
Let’s see only one element per posture so that you can act, easily and now, to regain more satisfaction and more control.
Anticipate
Anticipating leadership agility is NOT JUST planning and analyzing. There is a whole rapid, real-time dimension to the choice of actions and decisions you make.
How many decisions a day do you make? I bet, tons, ranging from small, low-impact decisions to larger decisions with big impacts and risks.
And that’s where you can do better.
For each decision or action you make, you can put into perspective the impacts and consequences of this decision in the medium and long term.
Anticipating in real time is under your control!
Here is my tool to better anticipate in 4 steps with an example:
- Decision: I decide to hire a person who has 50% of the required skills.
- Impacts and consequences of this decision: This person will need more supervision, I am understaffed and we are all overloaded.
- Micro-analysis: How could I make this work? Can I really afford to hire this person? What are my options? What processes or roles could I review to fill the tasks?
- Final decision and aligned actions: I talk to my team first and we see together what we need and how we can accomplish our mission differently.
All decisions are good if you are aware of the impacts and consequences and act in a manner consistent with them.
I know you’re busy. But being constantly reactive doesn’t help anyone: not you, not others, not the organization. Dare to be different.

Cooperate
Under the posture of cooperation, there is as much mutual aid as synchronization. You know that you are not alone in your situation. Other managers must be going through similar problems, right?
You also know that working in a team is not only motivating, but also energizing. Finally, you know that knowing that you are supported makes a difference. You do it the best you can for your direct team. Why not do it with colleagues?
If you really, simply, want to step up your game: stick together. Gather. Help each other. Ask for help, offer help, offer resources, think about the impacts of your decisions and actions on other teams.
In doing so, you will think about yourself, others, and the organization.
How can we summarize what to do to cooperate better? Log. Move closer.
Sometimes mutual aid is simply going to meet someone. “Hi! It’s been a long time since we’ve talked! Are you free for lunch or coffee? Tell me about your reality. »

Innovate
To integrate innovation into your daily life, into your routine, you don’t have to be the most creative person on earth 😊 , you only need to know what your goal is, what your goals are.
Then, based on that, you ask your team for ideas.
Here’s how to do it:
- Starting from a problem: recruitment
- Dig deeper into the problem (why is recruitment a problem?): because we don’t retain our staff, we are constantly recruiting and there is a labour shortage.
- Generating ideas: how do we increase our staff retention?
- Brainstorming: “What could we do, which is within our reach and control, to increase staff retention?” Find ideas that you can implement easily, without more resources (time, money, people).
- Select an idea: Don’t fall into the trap of wanting to do everything. A single idea PUT INTO ACTION will make a great difference. It’s better than having several ideas and doing nothing, right?

- Anticipate the impacts and consequences of your actions and decisions.
- Connect with your peers and share your reality simply.
- Implement a different way of taking action, without any additional resources and be proud of yourself.
